Introduction

The Capture the flag: Code Crack was organised as a part of TECHFEST 2026 with the objective of encouraging creativity, innovation, and practical application of web technologies among students. The competition provided a dynamic platform for participants to showcase their skills in solving the coding problems in various programming languages in specific timing.

 Rules and Guidelines

1. Sequential Flow

  • Linear Path: Solve problems in order ($P1 \right arrow P2 \right arrowP3$). No skipping.
  • Unlock Key: You must show the exact expected output to a proctor to receive the next problem definition.

2. Environment & Tools

  • Tech: C Language only. Bring your own laptop, pen, and paper.
  • Libraries: Standard only (stdio, string, math, ctype).
  • Fresh Start: No pre-written code, no GitHub or USBs. Start with a blank file.
  • Platform: Coding platform will be provided by us.

3. Integrity (Zero Tolerance)

  • Offline Only: No internet, AI tools (ChatGPT), or documentation sites.
  • Silent Mode: No talking to other participants. Phones must be OFF and in bags.
  • Anti-Cheat: No hard-coding outputs. If the logic is missing, the score is zero.

4. Winning & Scoring

  • Goal: Solve the most problems within the 60-minute limit.
  • Tie-Breaker: If scores are level, the student who finished their last problem earliest wins.

Evaluation Criteria

The websites were evaluated by a panel of judges based on the following criteria:

  • Final Word: Judges' decisions are final. No appeals.
  • Logic Audit: Judges may ask you to explain your code. Failure to do so results in disqualification.
  • Disqualification: Proctors may remove any participant for plagiarism or unauthorized communication on the spot.

Outcome of the Competition

The "Capture The Flag: Code Crack" event held on February 13, 2026, at the A. M. Patel Institute of Computer Studies saw participation from 12 students across the second, fourth, and sixth semesters. The event successfully engaged a diverse cohort of computer studies students in a practical cybersecurity challenge, serving as an effective platform for students to test their coding and problem-solving skills in a competitive environment.
